Slowly is a place for meaningful connections through letters, where everyone can feel safe and respected. These Community Guidelines set expectations for how we interact. Please read them carefully—following these guidelines ensures a positive experience for all. Ignoring them may lead to consequences, from warnings to account suspension.
 

What We Love to See

• Authenticity
  People want to connect with the real you, not a made-up version. Don’t create fake accounts or pretend to be someone else, even if it seems harmless or just for fun.
• Kindness
  There’s a real person behind the screen. If you wouldn’t say something face-to-face, don’t write it in a letter. A bit of kindness and respect can make all the difference.
• Inclusivity
  The world is full of people with different backgrounds—races, genders, sexual orientations, and more. Be respectful and open to learning about others. That’s how we all grow.
• Patience
  Slowly is named for a reason. It’s for those seeking a break from the fast-paced world. By joining, you’ve signed up for a slower way to connect, and that means being willing to wait.
• Thoughtfulness
  We love to see people who are willing to write. Make each letter count and put real thought into your words. If you’re seeking meaningful conversations, it starts with you.

What We Don’t Want to See

• Hateful Behaviour
  We won’t tolerate any hateful content that targets others based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. This includes slurs, symbols, or anything that spreads hate.
• Bullying or Harassment
  Shaming, bullying, stalking, intimidating, assaulting, defaming, or any form of abuse or psychological harm is strictly prohibited.
• Flirting Without Consent
  Slowly is not a dating app. Romantic or sexual advances should not be made right away. Build a genuine pen pal connection first, and ensure any approach is mutual and respectful.
• Sexual Content Without Consent
  Sexual content and solicitation are not allowed without clear, mutual consent. This includes sexual narratives, jokes, fetishes, innuendos, emojis, questions, or comments.
• Solicitation
  Requests for money, gifts, jobs, personal loans, visas, crowdfunding, sugar daddy/baby relationships, or any form of financial compensation are prohibited.
• Advertising
  Any form of advertising is not allowed. This includes promoting websites, social media accounts, businesses, or sharing links to products, services, or other external platforms.
• Spam or Junk Content
  Nobody likes spam. Don’t send unsolicited, irrelevant, or excessive messages, including chain letters, repetitive content, or anything that adds no value to the conversation.
• Asking to Switch to Instant Messaging in Initial Contact
  Slowly is all about the pen pal experience. Asking for outside contact right away defeats the purpose. If you prefer fast communication, this might not be the right app for you.
• Faking Location
  Don’t fake your location. Some users want pen pals from specific places to learn about the culture or practise a new language. Faking it ruins the experience for everyone.
• Multiple Accounts
  Using multiple accounts to bypass blocks, send extra letters, or gain unfair advantages isn’t allowed. This disrupts the balance of the community and undermines trust.
• False Reporting
  We rely on users to report bad behaviour. But don’t misuse this tool. False reporting, especially to settle personal scores, isn’t tolerated.
